Testimonials

From Councillors Foundation - Group feedback

We have opened our hearts regardless of our political backgrounds. ...this training will create a new spirit throughout City Hall.

*****

We need to acknowledge that before we become politicians, we are human beings first. I wonder why we never thought of that before.

Now at tea time we are able to sit together, across political barriers. We don’t have to scream at meetings.

From Managers' Foundation - Group feedback

There is no dominant culture. We are all equal.

*****

It is a practical demonstration of unity in Diversity.

*****

This was a different cultural course. It is very practical and opened our hearts. Well done.

We did not have to watch videos and slide shows that separate us.

*****

The Primer created the opportunity to open up conversation between me and my staff. People actually phoned me at home with answers. Brilliant!

*****

You showed me that I must know and understand people before stereotyping.

*****

The more diverse the team, the more powerful the team.

*****

This course really brought us together as a team.

*****

The environment was so relaxing and fun that we learnt important things about other cultures without feeling fear.

*****

Today made me think a lot more about people’s beliefs and respected them more. We must all work as a team.

*****

The value that I got was team work, openness of communication - with respect, participation and understanding.

*****

I am awestruck. You have taught us to be catalysts.

*****

I have been in Council since 1967 and this is the first time I have found a course of this nature. This is very valuable.

From new Facilitators Foundation - Group feedback

I grew up as a farm boy, very cultural until 18. Then I moved to the township, it was different. I became less respectful. What is this new culture?
Then, after the course in January, I was teaching respect to my little sister.

*****

I really enjoyed the course and the people. I was demoralised and demotivated before the programme. On the Celebrating Humanity course I was so excited.

I did an exercise with my husband to find the challenges.

I found out that I was a chronic complainer, and a criticiser who did not take criticism.

*****

I learnt that there are so many people are eager to bring change. The onus is upon us to bring change.
No outsiders can do this.

*****

I am like a brand new person.

*****

I have learnt a lot about myself. I have learnt that I am still prejudiced. I have firstly learnt to accept myself. I have also learnt to accept others.

*****

Knowing that we all add to each other. We all bring value.

*****

It was tremendous to learn to forgive. Living spiritual belief.

*****

In 20 years in council I never experienced such spontaneity. In the council we are all numbers. This can change.

*****

I have been able to improve relationships. There is a person at work who never smiled. No one talked to her. After the course I approached the person and asked about her culture. Now she seeks me out to greet me.

*****

I decided to practice at home first and then at work. I have become one with my family. I was the lioness at home - this has changed.

*****

I have become more open. I was like one of many the sheep in the boat. I have changed my attitude towards my seniors.

*****

I felt how little I knew about my own culture. It opened me up to ask questions.

*****

The more diverse a team is the more we win.

*****

I have developed a good attitude this has brought many good things

A Transformation Letter
(Published with permission of Nevin Royath )

I have known Nevin Royath for several years.

My association with Nevin was more as a work colleague. We never worked together.

We normally met when Nevin experienced problems with his computer. At the time, Nevin was working for our Finance Department.

I had always known Nevin to be a “cocky” person who felt he knew it all. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder.

He felt that he knew more than anyone else and never gave another person a chance to share their views.

All the same, I never let it bother me as my association with Nevin was minimal.

I was recently tasked with Training Ellipse and was teamed with Nevin Royath.

I became very defensive towards my Manager and advised him that I would not be happy working with Nevin.

Apparently, over the years Nevin had soured many relationships in our IT department, as such, he was not a popular person amongst my work colleagues.

After persuasion from my Manager, I found myself working at the Training Centre alongside Nevin Royath.

My initial meeting with Nevin was different.

The Nevin that I remembered was no more. He had become more accommodating and helpful.

I had never trained computers in my life. I was the one always fixing them. He at once made me comfortable and put my mind at ease and gave me lots of courage to become a good trainer.

I sat in on many of his classes and thoroughly enjoyed myself. He was always bragging about how he had attended a diversity course that changed his entire life.

He would generally drift away from the topic of Ellipse and talk about stuff like whether we would like to learn how we learn and about our personality types.

I noticed that he got the learners involved in the exercises. He made it very fun and was always in a jolly mood. He never got upset when learners were battling with a certain aspect of the training.

The Nevin to whom I now grew accustomed too was a far cry from the Nevin I met in Finance many years ago.

Nevin had approached me a few weeks ago and requested I write something about him and if I had noticed any change in his behavior.

I did not understand this strange request but nonetheless decided to honour his request as he had helped me greatly during my learning period.

It was only later that I found out that he was involved in Diversity Training and needed my report as part of his assessment.

The Nevin that I know now is a kind and gentle person. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to his peers and myself.

There is not a day that went by when he had refused me a simple request.

I am glad that I did not refuse the offer to train alongside Nevin.

I learned many valuable life lessons from him. I unfortunately will be jetting off to Australia in a few months time.

I would have liked to have learnt more from Nevin.

All the best to you my friend. I hope all your dreams and wishes come true.

I also wish you all the best on your Diversity training programme.

With kind regards
